cow at the moovies
yeah, when i was at nick they had this programme, basically a movie review show hosted by, u guessed it, a cow. "moo"vies, geddit. yes, kids shows are full of wit.
i watched boys don't cry on dvd yesterday, and a beautiful mind on tv today..
boys don't cry was ok.. great acting, swank.. and boy did she really look like a boy.. very convincing. save for her too generous mouth and too huge, hauntingly expressive eyes, she could've passed for the real thing.. and how sad, the ending. the only thing i could think of after the show was, wow, if they shot every girl in thiS country who's trying to pass off as a guy, well there'd a hell of a massive pile-up.. it'd be a massacre.. a real witch hunt. butch hunt. ok, that was tasteless.
a beautiful mind is a better show.. really good. this is the second time i watched it, though the first was just bits of it when we were doing schizophrenia in social work class. find it so inspiring that he overcomes his mental illness and public shame to go on living and eventually achieve his dream.. so the quip that there's a thin line between genius and insanity is quite true after all.. the next time someone says ur crazy, smile and drawl, 'im not crazy, im an unacknowledged genius'.. ha. rite. btw, jennifer connely is beautiful.. and russel crowe has fat arms.
sigh. what am i doing? i should be out looking for work, not writing half-assed reviews to shows years outdated.. well blame the f**king cinema moguls for shooting prices sky high.. assholes.. it just leaves the poor to seek entertainment elsewhere, like public libraries (check) and pathetic tv movies (double check). and video ezy. sigh.
my favourite line from beautiful mind,
"The only reason i'm here today is because of you. You are my only reason; you are all my reasons."
aww..
and my last consolation - these were real stories. if there were actually real people in the world like them who existed, real people with such extraordinary lives, then i shall go on believing that something may yet come out of mine.
"i need to believe that something extraordinary will happen."
